Cliff at Lyons is a luxury boutique hotel in beautiful countryside county of Kildare, just 30 minutes’ drive from Dublin.
The hotel occupies quite an important historical site on the banks of Kildare’s Grand Canal. The property is comprised of restored historic rose-clad buildings including an old mill and a former dovecote that were all part of the estate belonging to an old Irish dynasty. The estate was eventually bought by Tony Ryan (founder of RyanAir), whose private chapel can be discovered on the grounds. The current owners have converted the estate into Cliff at Lyons hotel.
Guests will notice that the architectural bones have been retained, though the historic buildings made of slate and granite have been restored. Guest rooms are elegantly decorated with fine furniture and décor that compliments the overall feeling of the hotel as a private countryside estate. Gardens, a lily pond, and old stone statues scattered throughout lush acres is reminiscent of times past.
Cliff at Lyons has two excellent restaurants. The Canal Café (set along the canal) serves locally sourced, organic food in a relaxed atmosphere. The Orangery features a botanically themed seasonal menu in an elegant setting of a converted glass-ceilinged greenhouse.
In late 2017, the hotel will open a luxury spa that will offer a long list of innovative treatments.
The region is well known for its golf courses, horseback riding, and cycling, but guests can also occupy themselves by taking up a cooking workshop hosted at the hotel or taking a short drive to Dublin and enjoy all that Ireland’s capital has to offer.
HotelSwaps is pleased to welcome Cliff at Lyons to its growing worldwide network of distinguished hotel members.
